About Us

Rotary is a worldwide organization of business and professional leaders that provides humanitarian service, encourages high ethical standards in all vocations, and helps build goodwill and peace in the world. Approximately 1.2 million Rotarians belong to more than 31,000 Rotary clubs located in 166 countries.

Rotary club membership represents a cross-section of the community's business and professional men and women. The world's Rotary clubs meet weekly and are nonpolitical, nonreligious, and open to all cultures, races, and creeds.

The main objective of Rotary is service — in the community, in the workplace, and throughout the world. Rotarians develop community service projects that address many of today's most critical issues, such as children at risk, poverty and hunger, the environment, illiteracy, and violence. They also support programs for youth, educational opportunities and international exchanges for students, teachers, and other professionals, and vocational and career development. The Rotary motto is Service Above Self.

About Royal City Rotary
We are a group of about 40 men and women who meet for Breakfast on Wednesdays - to have fun and fellowship while we serve our community and our world. We were chartered in 1992.
With an energetic and active membership - we do many local and international projects assisting wherever we can alleviate suffering and ignorance. Royal City Rotary is the founding group of the “To The Heart of the Matter” event - which under the leadership and inspiration of then International Director Dennis Magrega - developed the idea and invited Monarch Place to co-plan the first event. The first “To the Heart of the Matter” was held in New Westminster in February 1999, and has since grown to become one of the area’s best supported charity functions. Royal City Rotary Link

About the Rotary Club of Burnaby
We are a group of about 60 members who meet for lunch each Friday in Burnaby. We are one of the more senior clubs in the district but we have many fresh, new programs accomplished by our members who are all young at heart. Chartered in 1947 - our club prides itself in making a real difference in our area and our world. Burnaby came on board with the 2nd annual “To the Heart of the Matter event” and has been a partner in this event ever since.
